Rhone Wine Tour

Rhone Region Wine Tour : 8-15 July 2006

Saturday 8th July
08.00am - Pick up from 'The Polygon', The Pavement, Clapham Common Old Town.

Travel will be by luxury executive coach, equipped with toilet, video and hot drinks machine.

Champagne will be served once we get on the motorway! We travel to the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone, where we take the train to Calais. We then journey to Lyon (approx 7 hours journey).

En route we will stop for a proper lunch

07.00pm - Arrive at our hotel in Lyon:  Boscolo Grand Hotel. Free evening.



Sunday 9th July
9.30am - Depart Hotel for wine tasting and lunch (Guigal, Condrieu or Jamet).

Free afternoon & evening in Lyon or optional extra : dinner at Leon de Lyon (75 euros extra).

Monday 10th July
10.00am - Depart hotel for Wine Tasting and lunch (Guigal, Condrieu or Jamet).

Free evening.



Tuesday 11th July
9.00am - Depart hotel for Avignon, en route Vaison la Romaine, tour of Roman ruins & villa followed by Roman-style lunch.

- or Visit to Chapoutier for tasting and lunch.
- or visit to Jaboulet for tasting and lunch.
- or visit to Cornas for tasting and lunch.

Arrive at Le Bastide de Gordes – fantastic Spa Hotel. Dinner at hotel.
Free evening – depending on what we did for lunch!

Wednesday 12th July - Gigondas, Domaine de Santa Duc
Lunch at Domaine de Mourchon with tour and tasting
- or Lunch at Sablet or Chateau de Raspail

La Pigeade, Beaumes de Venise including cave tour and process of making Beaumes de Venise.

Dinner in Villeneuve les Avignon



Thursday 13th July - Chateauneuf
Clos du Papes tour and tasting
- or Domaine de Vieux Lazaret
- or Chateau la Nerthe

Lunch in Fines Roche restaurant. Beaucastel tour and tasting. Chocolatier tasting. Free evening.

Friday 14th July (Bank Holiday in France)
8.00am - Depart hotel for Macon or Chablis – staying overnight.
Tour & Tasting if available. Lunch & Dinner included

Saturday 15th July
7.00am - Depart for Calais.
2.00pm - Arrive at Ardres for lunch.  Stock up on wines at Franglais market, and Auchon, if time.
9.30pm - Arrive in Clapham.
