Wine Tour to Champagne

12 - 14th OCTOBER 2007 - Itinerary

Friday :
09.00am - Pick up from The Polygon, The Pavement, Clapham Common Old Town.

Travel will be by luxury executive coach, equipped with toilet and hot drinks machine. Champagne will be served once we get on the motorway! We travel to the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone, where we take the train to Calais. We then journey to Reims (approx 3 hours journey). En route we will serve a Wine & Food Academy three course lunch box - to keep you going!

5.00pm - Arrive at our hotel, the 4 star L’Assiette Champenoise in Reims.


7.30pm - Gourmet dinner in the Hotel Restaurant.

Saturday :
9.00am - Coach leaves Hotel

9.30 - Arrive at Champagne Autréau in Champillon for a tour of the vineyards.
This will be followed by a grand tasting at Autréau and a chance to buy at ex-cellars
prices.

Autréau have been growers in the region since 1670. The vineyards cover over 27
hectares situated in the best ‘Crus’ of the ‘White Hillside’and Marne Valley. Production is usually around 400,000 bottles annually.

Friends of the Academy will know Autréau well – it’s their Premier Cru that we sell in London.

Lunch at Les Berceaux – fine restaurant in Epernay, with accompanying
Champagnes.


3.30pm Visit the cellars of Louis Roederer or Veuve Clicquot for yet another tasting of champagnes.

7.00pm Arrive back at the Hotel. The rest of the evening is free for you to relax, eat in one of the many local restaurants, or wander about the town as you wish.

Sunday :
9.00am Depart Hotel

1.00pm Arrive at Tilques, just outside Saint Omer for gourmet lunch at the luxury Chateau Tilques

4.00pm On to Calais and whichever shops are open on a Sunday. We will also visit a wine wholesaler called ‘Franglais’ where a special tasting will be
held for us – some fine wines on offer at 5% discount for WFA guests!

Depart for Channel Tunnel

9.00pm Arrive back at Clapham Common.
